Community Trainings
Look out for these offerings in 2025. Our trainings incorporate games, movement, small group and large group conversations, role plays, and writing. We do individual Circles and trainings for youth as well. Contact us at info@restorativehouston.org
Relationship Healing/Mediation
We offer individualized Circles for addressing the roots of conflict in the workplace, family, or friendships. We co-create a healing space for participants to craft steps for moving forward, whether this involves further dialogue, alternative means of communication, boundary setting, or separation.
Start:Empowerment's Political Education Series (Virtual), Spring 2025
Start:Empowerment is a BIPOC led climate education and environmental justice organization. We will pilot their political education curriculum which has 6 modules: What is political education? Capitalism, Imperialism, Climate, Cultural Work, and Organizing. Youth receive stipends for attending.
LGBTQ+ Circles (Virtual), Spring 2025
By invitation only, with support from family members, youth who identify as LGBTQ+ have a space to foster community, build on their resilience, and share their stories. Students receive stipends.
Sisterhood Circle Series, Spring 2025
The Sisterhood Circle, trains students for four Saturdays in how to build community in a circle, repair conflicts, communicate effectively, and advocate for self and community. Students gain leadership skills based on a “RJ Girls Leadership Program” evaluated by Georgetown University and co-written by Restorative Houston’s Executive Director, Anita Wadhwa. The curriculum covers the roots of restorative justice, identifying and addressing oppression, public speaking, self-care and mindfulness. Students must apply and join an orientation/interview with a family member on zoom. Accepted students will receive a stipend.
Advanced Sisterhood Circle Series, Summer 2025
Prerequisite: Sisterhood Circle Series
Students in this series will build on their knowledge of community building Circles by focusing on Circles for harm repair. Youth will receive stipends.
Elder Circle Series, May 2025
We will sponsor a series of four Circles in May to commemorate Older Americans Month (OAM), which is defined by the Administration for Community Living as “a time to recognize older Americans’ contributions, highlight aging trends, and reaffirm commitments to serving the older adults in our communities.” This series is meant to provide a space of connection for 10-15 elders to foster social connectedness. Elders who attend all sessions will receive a stipend.
